Text Note
Ribbon location: Tab DVD Addin → Group Graphics → the arrow next to Revision Cloud
Command ID: btnNoteText
What it does
Lets you type a text note right where it belongs on the sheet — like the text (T) tool of Read PDF. The result is a text box with a coloured border, no fill and text in the line colour; font and text size follow Cloud Options….
How to use
- Go to DVD Addin → Graphics → the arrow under Revision Cloud → Text Note.
- Click where the note goes — a typing box opens right there, at the size the text will have on the sheet. To set the width, drag a frame across instead of clicking (at least about 24 pt; shorter counts as a click): the text wraps within that width.
- Type (Vietnamese input works normally). Enter finishes, Shift+Enter adds a line, Esc cancels.
- The note appears on the sheet; click elsewhere for another one, or press Esc to exit.
With a plain click the box grows with the text, up to about 240 pt wide before wrapping. An empty box creates nothing.

Illustrated walkthrough
Step 1. On the ribbon, open the DVD Addin tab → Graphics group → open Revision Cloud → choose Text Note.

Step 2. Click where the note goes, for example next to the footing-concrete line — a typing box opens right there (to set its width, drag a frame of about 24 pt or more instead). Type Check qty against drawing KC-05 and press Enter; Shift+Enter adds a line, Esc cancels. Click elsewhere for another note, or press Esc to finish.
Step 3. The note is a text box with a red border, no fill and red text (font and size from Cloud Options…) floating over the table (1) — cell values and formats are untouched. The status bar reports how many notes were added (2). To edit later, click the note and type.

Keys in the drawing layer
| Key | Effect |
|---|---|
M / T / N / L | Switch to Arrow / Text Note / Sticky Note / Callout |
R / P, Tab | Back to rectangle / polygon cloud; Tab cycles through all tools |
[ ] (or − =) | Text size; with the Arrow tool: arrowhead size |
1–6 | Colour (red, blue, green, orange, purple, black) |
| Wheel / Ctrl+wheel | Scroll / zoom while drawing (only scroll while typing) |
| Ctrl+Z | Remove the last shape drawn in this session |
| Esc | Discard the shape in progress; Esc again (or Enter, right-click — when not typing) to exit |
While typing: Enter finishes, Shift+Enter adds a line, Esc cancels; clicking elsewhere also finishes (that click only ends the typing; it does not place a new note). The keys above only apply when you are not typing — Vietnamese input (Telex, VNI) works normally.
Example
While checking a bill of quantities you notice that the concrete volume on row 37 does not match the drawing: choose Text Note, click next to the cell, type "Recheck quantity against drawing S-05", press Enter. The note sits on top of the table without changing values or cell formats.
Notes
- To make a note stand out in a table of figures use Sticky Note; to point at an exact spot use Callout.
- To edit the text later, click the note and type as in any Excel text box.
- Colour and line weight are shared with clouds; font, text size and arrowhead size are set in Cloud Options… (changes made with keys in the drawing layer are remembered).
- The result is a real Excel shape (text box, line, group), so it can be edited, moved, printed and exported to PDF like any shape; by default it moves with cells but does not resize (change this with Clouds and notes resize with cells in Cloud Options…).
- Shapes created by the command cannot be undone with Excel's Ctrl+Z — inside the drawing layer use the command's own Ctrl+Z; after exiting, select and press Delete.
- Page Layout view is not supported; on a sheet that protects drawing objects the command refuses.
